Premier League Records
The Premier League records that matter, in one place. Alan Shearer’s 260 goals have stood untouched for twenty years, Erling Haaland’s 36 in a single season reset what one campaign could look like, and James Milner’s 658 appearances may never be beaten. This hub gathers every major premier league records list — the all-time top scorers, the most goals in a season, the most appearances, the most assists and the most clean sheets — with the stories behind the numbers and an honest look at which records are actually under threat right now.

Records Under Threat This Season
Erling Haaland’s pace. Haaland has 8 goals in the opening weeks of 2026-27 — a goal a game — and sits on 120 Premier League goals in just 139 appearances. The single-season record of 36 is the one genuinely in play: nobody else in the current top-scorer race is within three goals of him, with João Pedro and Alexander Isak on 5 each. The all-time mark of 260 is a longer conversation — he is 140 behind Shearer — but his rate (the fastest to 100 goals in the competition’s history, in 111 games) keeps the arithmetic interesting in a way no previous challenger managed.
Alisson’s climb. Liverpool’s goalkeeper has 106 clean sheets and needs two more to pass Thomas Sørensen’s 107 and move into the top 17. He has kept three already this season, so the overtake could come within weeks rather than months.
Bruno Fernandes, the active creator. With 73 assists, the Manchester United captain is the highest active assister in the league and still climbing — and he broke the single-season assist record with 21 in 2025-26, passing the 20 shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. Ryan Giggs’s all-time 162 is not under threat, but Fernandes is steadily moving up the chasing pack.
Pickford’s century. Jordan Pickford kept his 100th Premier League clean sheet in September 2026 — only the 19th goalkeeper to reach the mark — and has since moved to 101.
The safe ones. Milner’s 658 appearances look untouchable: the nearest active player, Jordan Henderson, is nearly 200 behind. Giggs’s 162 assists are equally secure now that both De Bruyne (119) and Salah (94) have left the league, and Čech’s 202 clean sheets are 33 clear of the next name.

How These Records Are Counted
A short note on method, because record lists are only as good as their counting. Every figure on these pages covers Premier League matches only, from the competition’s first season in 1992-93 — not FA Cup, League Cup or European games. The three 42-game seasons (1992-93 to 1994-95, when the league had 22 teams) are flagged wherever they affect a list, most visibly on the single-season goals page. Assists follow the official all-time figures, which can differ by one or two from some publishers’ counts; where that happens, the page says so. Totals for active players move as the 2026-27 season is played, and each page is reviewed whenever a milestone falls.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Premier League goals record?
Alan Shearer holds it with 260 goals, scored for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United between 1992 and 2006. He is the only player to score 100 or more Premier League goals for two different clubs.
What is the most goals scored in a single Premier League season?
Erling Haaland’s 36 for Manchester City in 2022-23 — the record for the 38-game era. Alan Shearer (1994-95) and Andy Cole (1993-94) both scored 34, but those came in 42-game seasons.
Who has made the most Premier League appearances?
James Milner, with 658 appearances across six clubs from 2002 to 2026. He passed Gareth Barry’s 653 in February 2026 and retired that summer at the top of the list.
Which Premier League records could fall this season?
Haaland’s goal-a-game start puts the single-season record of 36 in play, and Alisson needs two clean sheets to pass Thomas Sørensen into the top 17. The all-time marks — Shearer’s 260, Milner’s 658, Giggs’s 162 assists and Čech’s 202 clean sheets — are safe for now.
Figures on this page are Premier League matches only, cross-checked on 24 October 2026 against the published all-time lists of LiveScore, NBC Sports and ESPN. Totals for active players move as the 2026-27 season is played.
